UAFS women's basketball continue their battle on the road this week as the Lady Lions (4-5) take on Eastern New Mexico (7-2) and West Texas A&M (9-3). First, the Lady Lions will play against the Greyhounds of the Eastern New Mexico at 6:30 p.m. in Portales, N.M. Subsequently, UAFS will travel to Canyon, Texas to take on West Texas A&M Lady Buffs at 2 p.m. on Saturday at First United Bank Center.
Thus far in the season, the Lady Lions are scoring 60.4 points per game on 38.8 percent shooting from the field, 26.2 percent from beyond the arc and 70.9 percent from the free throw line. UAFS is led in scoring by
Paige Elston (11.4),
Ashanti Eden (10.1) and
Mar'Shalia Lollie (9.3). The Lady Lions are currently sharing the ball well as a team with 10.8 assists per game, and are led by Elston (4.3 apg.), Eden (1.8 apg.), and
Alexsis Brown (1.5 apg.)
On the defensive end of the court, the Lady Lions allow 68.7 points per game while their opponents shoot 39.8 percent from the field, 30.6 percent from beyond the arc and 68.5 percent from the free throw line. As a team, the Lady Lions grab 35.9 rebounds per game, led by
Tamera Gulley (7.7 rpg.),
Mar'Shalia Lollie (7.4 rpg.), and

This is the first time ever that the UAFS women's basketball team plays Eastern New Mexico and the Lady Lions will be looking to start the all-time series with a win. On the other hand, the Lady Lions have lost all three meetings against the Lady Buffs and will be looking for a redemption against them on Saturday.
