UAFS Women's basketball team is opening the conference play against Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville in friendly confines of the Stubblefield Center. The Lady Lions will take on Dustdevils at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, followed by their matchup against Javelinas at 2 p.m. on Saturday. The Lady Lions are currently 2-2 on the season and will be looking to improve their overall record this week.
Offensively, UAFS is scoring 59 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from the field (85-208), 28.3 percent from beyond the arc (17-60) and 68.1 percent from the free throw line. The Lady Lions are averaging 11.3 assist per game (45 total) while also scoring 12.5 points per game off turnovers. UAFS team scoring leaders are

Ashanti Eden (10.3),
Tamera Gulley (8.3) and
Hannah Boyett (7.8). Elston also leads the team in assists (6.0).
Defensively, the Lady Lions are allowing 66.5 points per game while forcing 16 turnovers, and recording 7.8 steals and 2.8 blocks per game. UAFS team averages 34.3 rebounds per game while Gulley leads all rebounders with 8.3 per game followed by
Mar'Shalia Lollie with 5.5. Gulley also leads the team in blocks (1.3 per game) and is adding two steals per game. Elston leads the Lady Lions in steals with 2.3 per game.

The Lady Lions are currently 14-2 in all-time series against Texas A&M International, with a 10-game winning streak. The Lady Lions will be looking to extend the streak this week.
