UAFS Volleyball team is starting the first-ever competition in Lone Star Conference post-season Championship as the Lady Lions battle Texas A&M - Kingsville at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Stubblefield Center. If the Lady Lions win they will match up against the old rival, St. Edward's in the Quarterfinals at 12 p.m. on Thursday in Commerce, Texas.
Texas A&M-Commerce is the top seed after finishing as co-divisional champion along with the league's highest rating percentage index (RPI) of all Division II matches, which was used to seed the teams. The divisional champions - Texas A&M-Commerce, Angelo State, and St. Edward's - were seeded as top 3 teams. By virtue of conference tiebreaker, Texas A&M-Commerce earned one of the top three seeds.
The rest of the field includes No. 4 Tarleton, No. 5 West Texas A&M, No. 6 UAFS, NO. 7 UT Permian Basin, and No, 8 Lubbock Christian. Texas Woman's, DBU, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Midwestern State round out the 12 teams.
The action begins Tuesday, Nov. 19 with the opening round on campus at 6 p.m. The Tuesday winners and the top four teams will play at the No. 1 seed A&M-Commerce on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 21-22-23.
The single-elimination tournament consists of four opening round matches on Tuesday, followed by four quarterfinal contests on Thursday, two semifinal games on Friday evening and the championship match on Saturday.
In addition to claiming the LSC title, the winner will receive the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division II Volleyball Championship.
All games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC Digital Network at www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com on web browsers. Fans can also watch matches on Apple and Android mobile devices, and on OTT apps including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV and Roku devices by searching "LSC Digital Network."
