Phillips, Young Lead UAFS Cross Country at Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

UAFS Men's and Women's Cross Country teams competed in Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival on Saturday morning in Fayetteville, AR. Men's race started at 9:50 a.m. while women's started at 11:20 a.m. Will Phillips' 27:31.0 time paced the men's team, who ran against a highly competitive opposition, which resulted in the team's 27th place with an average time of 29:23.68. Other than tough competition, UAFS Cross Country overcame other difficulties. "We have been battling the weather and sickness the past few weeks and it is looking like everyone is getting healthy again," said UAFS Cross Country head coach Mason Rhodes

The Lady Lions were led by Kandace Young who ran 19:32.5 which placed her at 48th and helped the Lady Lions earn their overall 29th spot with an average time 21:03.62. "I am proud of the way we competed granted how we felt going into this race," Rhodes added.

Coach Rhodes concluded by saying "Looking forward we have two weeks to get our mind and bodies ready for our last race before conference meet. I think we are going to see some of our best times so far in Little Rock."

The UAFS Cross Country teams are now preparing for the Little Rock Invitational, hosted by UALR on October 12th.
