Lady Lions to Face UT Tyler, Texas A&M Commerce in Conference Roadtrip

After sweeping another conference homestand against St. Mary's and St. Edward's, UAFS Volleyball team is back on the road for conference matchups against Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday at 6 p.m. and UT Tyler on Saturday at 1p.m. The Lady Lions (18-5, 11-1) will be seeking revenge against Texas A&M-Commerce for the only Lady Lions' conference loss this season. 

During their most recent homestand, the Lady Lions were led by junior middle hitter Lexie Johnston who recorded a monster .625 hitting percentage with 21 kills on 32 attempts and only one error against St. Edward's. Same offensive production is expected from Johnston along with Anna Demmer who leads UAFS with 281 kills (3.51 per set) and Rachel Williams with 231 kills (3.12 per set). Amanda Van Wyk still dominates with 800 assists (10 per set) while also adding 1.01 kills per set. As a team UAFS is currently hitting a .268 clip with 1064 kills on 2817 attempts and 208 errors. The Lady Lions are recording 13.3 kills per set. 

Defensively, the Lady Lions are led by Lexy Lewis with 313 total digs (4.01 per set ). Demmer and Van Wyk are also big defensive contributors with 233 and 252 digs respectively. Johnston still leads the Lady Lions in block on the season with total of 83. As a team, UAFS holds their oponents to a .156 hitting percentage with 943 kills on 2970 attempts and 481 errors. 

This is the second matchup between the Lady Lions and Texas A&M-Commerce this season. The first match Texas A&M-Commerce won by 3-1 on October 12 in Stubblefield Center. The Lady Lions will be looking to even out the score and continue their conference winning streak. On the other hand, UAFS will be looking to sweep the season series against UT Tyler, as the Lady Lions won the first matchup in Stubblefield Center by 3-0.
