After sweeping their conference road trip, UAFS Volleyball team is back in the friendly atmosphere of Stubblefield Center for this-coming weekend as they host St. Mary's (9-10, 3-8) on Friday at 6 p.m. and St. Edward's (12-6, 7-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Lady Lions have a long and winning history against both of these teams. The Lady Lions lead the all-time series against St. Mary's 9-3 and against St. Edward's by 11-1. UAFS will be looking to increase the all-time series lead after this weekend.
As a team, the Lady Lions are hitting a .266 clip with 969 kills on 2596 attempts and 279 errors which equates to 13.3 kills per set. UAFS also averages 11.7 assists per set this season.
Anna Demmer (264) leads the team in kills followed by
Lexie Johnston (199) and
Rachel Williams (193). Demmer averages 3.62 kills per set followed by Williams (3.16) and Johnston (2.97).
Amanda Van Wyk leads the team in assists (724) and assists per set (9.92).
Defensively, the Lady Lions keep their opponents to a .159 hitting percentage with 867 kills on 2725 attempts and 435 errors. UAFS has recorded 152.5 blocks on the season, and 2.1 blocks per set. Johnston leads the Lady Lions in blocks (76) while
Lexy Lewis leads the team in digs (284) and digs per set (4.00). As a team, UAFS has recorded 1166 digs on the season and 16.0 digs per set.
This weekend's homestand features a
Buckets of Hope donation drive. Admissions to both volleyball games will be FREE with a
canned food or
baby supply donation which will be collected at the front-door ticket office at Stubblefield Center. All donations will benefit local
Community Services Clearinghouse,
Earthbound Angels and Lions Pride Pantry.
