After a dominant performance against Southern Arkansas, UAFS Volleyball team is back on the road for conference action against Texas A&M International on Friday at 6 p.m. in Laredo, Texas and against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Kingsville, Texas.
Offensively, the Lady Lions (14-5, 7-1) are led by senior outside hitter
Anna Demmer (237 kills), junior middle hitter Lexie Jonston (178 kills) and junior outside hitter
Rachel Williams (172 kills). Senior setter
Amanda Van Wyk leads the Lady Lions dominantly with 653 assists. Defensively, Van Wyk also adds 199 digs while the Lady Lions are led by
Lexy Lewis with 250 digs.
Lexie Johnston leads the team in blocks (70). As a team, UAFS records 13.1 kills per set with an overall .236 hitting percentage with 877 kills on 2360 attempts and 256 errors on the season. Menwhile, the Lady Lions only allow .159 hitting percentage with 803 kills on 2478 attempts and 409 errors.
This will be the first time that the Lady Lions face Dustdevils as a part of the Lone Star Conference play. Historically, UAFS leads the series by 14-1 with the only win for Dustdevils being from 2011 season in Laredo, Texas. On the other hand, the Lady Lions have met with Texas A&M-Kingsville only once before and won in three straight sets on August 24, 2018 in San Angelo, Texas. The Lady Lions will be looking to improve their Lone Star Conference
standing after this weekend with Texas A&M-Commerce jumping in front of them.
