After a heart-breaking loss in five sets to a non-conference rivals Oklahoma Baptist, UAFS Volleyball team will host two conference matches this weekend. First, the Lady Lions (12-4, 6-0) take on UT Tyler (7-7, 2-4) on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center. The second match of the weekend the Lady Lions will play against Texas A&M Commerce (11-4, 5-1) on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Stubblefield Center. The game against Texas A&M Commerce is also the
Pink Out game. The Lady Lions are looking to bounce back and continue their winning streak in the Lone Star Conference play.
Offensively, the Lady Lions are led by their senior outside hitter
Anna Demmer (209 kills), junior middle hitter
Lexie Johnston (149 kills) and junior outside hitter
Rachel Williams (144 kills). Senior setter
Amanda Van Wyk (550) leads the Lady Lions in assists. Defensively,
Lexy Lewis (211),
Van Wyk (168) and Demmer (160) lead the Lady Lions in digs while
Johnston (60) leads the Lady Lions in blocks.
This weekend's homestand features a Pink Out game on Saturday when the Lady Lions take on Texas A&M Commerce. This event is sponsored by
Arvest Bank and
First Presbyterian Church. Both organizations will host tailgates with free hotdogs, chips and coke outside Stubblefield Center at noon. Admission is FREE and fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match. First serve of the match will be executed by one of the breast cancer survivors from the local community. Donations will be accepted, too, with all donations benefiting More Than Pink event by
Susan G. Komen. During the match, Coke and Taco Bell will host numerous giveaways.
