UAFS' offensive tandem of senior middle hitter

Anna Demmer combined for 26 total kills, but that wasn't enough to spark the Lady Lions past the No. 25-ranked Missouri Western Griffons on Friday in the Newman Jets Classic.
Missouri Western won the match 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 to earn its first win in the all-time series against UAFS, which leads the series 2-1.
UAFS (6-4) will play No. 10 Central Missouri at 4 p.m. today in its second match of the three-day, seven-team classic at Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita, Kan. Live statistics and live stream will be available at

The Griffons held the Lady Lions to a 0.161 hitting percentage with 41 kills on 118 attempts with 22 errors. Rogers, who is this week's Heartland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, collected 13 kills, compiling a sizzling 0.500 hitting percentage. Demmer had 13 kills, too.

Erin Black served the Lady Lions' only ace.
Missouri Western (6-3) had five total team blocks with junior outside hitter Stephanie Doak collecting two solo blocks, and senior defensive specialist Audrey Keim and sophomore defensive specialist Lindsey Hartline had 15 and 10 digs, respectively.
​​​​​​​UAFS held Missouri Western to a 0.212 hitting percentage with 43 kills on 118 attempts with 18 errors. Doak and junior outside hitter Sam Duncan had 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter Lauren Murphy had 36 assists and served three of the Griffons' five aces.
