Three players scored in double-figures for UAFS on Tuesday night, but the Lady Lions couldn't hold off NCAA Division I Arkansas State as the Red Wolves pulled away late for a 100-73 exhibition win at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro.
It was the only preseason exhibition game for the Lady Lions, who will begin regular-season play on Nov. 9-10 when they compete in the Conference Challenge hosted by Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo.
UAFS shot 56 percent from the field in the first quarter and led 25-17 before Arkansas State shot 50 percent in the second quarter to take a 40-39 lead at halftime. It seemed as though the Red Wolves couldn't miss in the second half, shooting 70 percent over the final two quarters to pull away.
The Lady Lions shot 48 percent from the field (29 of 61) – they were 5-of-17 shooting from 3-point range – and shot 77 percent from the free-throw line (10 of 13). Senior guard

Daijah Brown had 13 and senior forward
Ellie Lehne had 12.

Tamera Gulley just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Arkansas State shot 57 percent from the field (39 of 68) – it was 9-of-23 shooting from 3-point range – and shot 59 percent from the free-throw line (13 of 22).
Redshirt senior guard Akasha Westbrook had 17 points to lead the Red Wolves, while sophomore guard Morgan Wallace had 14, junior guard Jada Ford 13 and redshirt sophomore forward Kayla Williams 10. Westbrook and sophomore forward Lycia Peevy each had a team-high five rebounds.
