Senior outside hitter Michelle Walker has been named Heartland Conference Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season and also has been named First- Team All-Conference.
Walker, who is from Sugarland, Texas, is the second Lady Lion to earn Player of the Year honors and the second to earn the honor in consecutive seasons. Former Lady Lion Heidi Luks earned the honor during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.
Luks and Walker are two of only four players to earn the Conference Player of the Year honor multiple times and in consecutive seasons, joining St. Edward’s Erika Figueiredo (2002-03) and Incarnate Word’s Kim Kvapil (2007-08).
Walker, who was named Conference Hitter of the Week six times this season, leads UAFS and the conference in kills (359) and kills per set (4.03). She is second on the team and fifth in the conference in hitting percentage (0.282). Walker leads the team and conference in points (4.58).
She is third on the team in blocks (54) and blocks per set (0.61).
