UAFS senior Chris Eckes was named Heartland Conference Golfer of the Week for his play during last week's The Territory Classic at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan, Okla.

Eckes, a Fort Smith native, shot a 3-over par 147 (71-76) and won a two-hole playoff against Midwestern State's Clayton Keck to win the overall classic title. It was his first collegiate win.

The former Northside Grizzly, who was tied for the lead after Monday's opening round with a 1-under 71, was the highest-finishing Heartland Conference golfer in the tournament. He helped lead the Lions to a third-place tie in the team standings at the 14-team event.
