Eckes shot a 2-over 146 to lead the UAFS men’s golf team to a runner-up finish on Tuesday in the Union University National Guard Invitational at Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn.
UAFS shot a 24-over 600 (298-302) to finish tied with the University of Arkansas-Monticello (304-296) for runner-up honors. Each finished 10 strokes behind champion Freed-Hardeman, which shot a 14-over 590 (294-296).
Southern Indiana was fourth (602), followed by host Union (607), West Alabama (629), Union’s B team (633), Shorter University (642), Bethel University (663) and Freed-Hardeman’s B team (666).
Eckes, who was named to the all-tournament team, shot rounds of 74-72 and finished third.
