Eckes was named Heartland Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for his performance during this week’s annual UAFS Hardscrabble Invitational.
Eckes, a Fort Smith native, shot a sizzling 5-under-par 205 (67-69-69) during the three-round, two-day event and finished runner-up. He finished only two strokes behind invitational winner Jared Baker of Midwestern State.
???????Eckes helped lead the Lions to a runner-up finish in the 10-team invitational. UAFS shot an 18-over 858 (282-284-292) and finished tied with fellow conference member St. Mary’s. Midwestern State won the invitational, shooting an 8-under 832 (288-268-276).
It was the regular-season finale for UAFS, which will compete in the conference tournament on April 23-25 at Marble Falls, Texas.
