Eckes shot an 8-over-par 224 to lead the UAFS men's golf team to a ninth-place finish on Tuesday in the Newman Fall Invitational at Crestview Country Club in Wichita, Kan.
UAFS shot 46-over 910 (306-297-307) over the two-day, three-round event and finished 30 strokes behind champion and fellow Heartland Conference member Rogers State. Rogers State shot a 16-over 880 (288-296-296), edging runner-up Texas A&M-Commerce by eight-strokes.
Texas A&M-Commerce shot a 24-over 888 (291-298-299), followed by West Texas A&M (890), St. Mary's (894), Cameron (901), Newman (903), Lubbock Christian (905), Hutchinson Community College (908), UAFS, Texas A&M International (916) and Oklahoma Panhandle State (979).
Eckes shot rounds of 72-76-76 and finished tied for 13th overall.Â
