Jesus Galindo had led the UAFS men's cross country team in every meet going into the Heartland Conference Meet, but the sophomore runner endured his toughest outing of the season, finishing third among the Lions contingent in the event.

Galindo, however, returned to form on Saturday to help lead the Lions in their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II South Central Meet at The Range in Canyon, Texas. 
Galindo led the Lions to a 23rd place finish in the 10k event, which was hosted by West Texas A&M.
