UAFS senior Devin Hampton was named the Heartland Conference Pitcher of the Week for his performance during the Diamond Lions' three-game series against Rogers State.
Hampton, a right-hander from Potosi, Mo., tossed a four-hit, complete-game shutout in the Diamond Lions' 7-0 win in the opener against the Hillcats on Friday afternoon at Crowder Field. He did not allow an extra-base hit, walked only three and struck out seven during his second complete-game effort of the season.
It was the second week in a row for Hampton to earn the honor. He earned the honor last week after throwing a complete-game, no-hitter against Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the finale of that three-game series.
