Two UAFS baseball players have been recognized by the Heartland Conference for their performances during this past season.
Junior right fielder
Kasey Cooper and senior designated hitter
Blaise Warrick were each named Second Team All-Conference after helping lead the Diamond Lions to a 24-21 overall record and a sixth place finish in the conference.
Cooper, who is from Pea Ridge, Ark., played and started all 45 games this past season. He finished tied for third on the team in batting average (0.301) and hits (52), third in slugging percentage (0.572), second in runs scored (38), RBIs (44), home runs (12) and stolen bases (12) and fourth in doubles (nine).
He finished third on the team in fielding percentage (0.966) and fourth in putouts (82).
Warrick, who is from Longview, Texas, started 35 of the 36 games he played this past season. He led the team with a single-season, school-record 13 home runs (NCAA Division II era) and RBIs (52), finished fifth on the team in batting average (0.299) and runs scored (29), second in slugging percentage (0.642) and third in total bases (86).
He was named Heartland Conference Hitter of the Week and became the first Diamond Lion to be named NCBWA South Central Region Hitter of the Week and NCBWA National Hitter of the Week.
