UAFS senior designated hitter Blaise Warrick has been named the Heartland Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for his performance during the Diamond Lions' recent Rocky Mountain road trip.
And what a performance it was.
Warrick batted 0.500 with five home runs and 12 RBIs – all coming during UAFS' five-game series against the Regis University Rangers at Regis Baseball Field in Denver, Colo. Warrick, who also scored seven times, compiled a 1.333 slugging percentage and a 0.526 on-base percentage.
Warrick hit home runs in four of the five games against Regis and hit two home runs in the series opener, going 2 for 3 with two home runs and four RBIs in a 5-2 win against the Rangers.
He accounted for almost half of the Diamond Lions' 11 home runs during the six-game road trip that also included one game against Colorado School of Mines.
UAFS went 3-3 on the road trip and is 10-5 overall. The Diamond Lions will continue nonconference play this weekend when they play the Drury Panthers in a three-game series beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday at Meador Park in Springfield, Mo.
